SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY
FE DOCKET NO. 92-131-NG
On November 13, 1992, the Department of Energy (DOE) granted long-term import authority to Southern California Edison Company (Edison) in DOE/ERA Opinion and Order No. 721 (Order 721), 1 FE ¶ 70,678, to import up to 224,400 Mcf of Canadian natural gas per day over a 15-year term beginning on November 1, 1993. The gas was imported by Edison under the pricing and other provisions of a gas purchase contract dated December 18, 1990, with four suppliers.
On November 31, 1997, Edison notified the Office of Fossil Energy of DOE that it had terminated the agreement with its Canadian suppliers as of July 1, 1997, and requested DOE to vacate Order 721.
Accordingly, pursuant to section 3 of the Natural Gas Act, the authorization to import natural gas granted by Order 721 is hereby vacated.
Issued in Washington, D.C., on December 12, 1997.
